Youth Pastors and the Authors of “The Glass Between Us.” (Empowering Youth to Combat Digital Exploitation: A Value-Based Approach to Screen-Driven Challenges)
Julie is a wife and mom who loves Jesus. She readily shares how God brought hope, healing, and freedom to her soul after years of struggling with depression and anxiety.
From a young age Julie achieved high levels of success academically and athletically. She is a former high school Valedictorian and Division 1 volleyball player who played at Kent State University and a former professional runway/print/commercial model who, after striving for several years to fill a void in her soul through her accomplishments, realized that the only thing that could do this is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She now feels called to bring a message of hope through the teaching of God’s Word and help those who struggle as she did.
After graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2007, Julie has worked in full-time ministry for over 18 years as a professional speaker, licensed minister, youth pastor and educator, therapist, and Christian counselor in clinical, non-profit, and faith-based environments and loves working with people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Julie founded the New Hope Counseling Center in 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia focusing on christian counseling and discipleship for teen girls and women that helps them exchange lies for truth and experience God’s grace based on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. She loves speaking and counseling women, teens, student-athletes, and young adults struggling with mental health concerns. She has spoken at numerous schools and churches-both Christian and secular; universities including Pepperdine, UCLA, Loyola Marymount, and Georgia Tech, and conferences, camps, and retreats throughout the country. She is a regular speaker for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Athletes in Action ministries. Julie worked with her mentor, Christy Pierce, and the 1024 movement for over 6 years helping with research, resources, and speaking to bring hope for a hurting generation.
As a therapist and Christian counselor she has specialized in working with kids, teens, adults, couples, and families working through every type of issues including depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders, low self-esteem, perfectionism, communication and conflict resolution, child behavior problems, trauma, grief and loss, faith and spiritual issues, stress management, and relationship and family issues.
